Clackamas River Water (CRW), Marks a Century of Community Commitment and Stewardship

Clackamas River Water, a trusted provider in Clackamas, Oregon, is proud to celebrate 100 years of delivering safe, reliable drinking water to the communities it serves. For a century, we have been committed to protecting public health and safety while sustaining the region’s most vital resource - water. As we mark this milestone, we reaffirm our vision: "Be known for exceptional service, stewardship, and high-quality water which is essential to the vitality of our region"

Since its founding on March 20, 1926, as the Clackamas Water District, what began as a modest system serving a small population, expanded through a series of mergers with other water systems, and has grown into a modern utility that now provides high-quality drinking water to over 50,000 residents and businesses across the CRW service area. CRW has remained dedicated to protecting public health and supporting local growth. CRW is also a regional partner in providing water to some of our neighboring water systems that expands our impact in Clackamas County.

Our mission remains clear, to provide high quality, safe drinking water to our customers at rates consistent with responsible planning for the long-term health of our District. This milestone is not just a reflection of our history, but a testament to the trust our customers place in us every day, and the dedication of generations of employees, board members, and community partners.

Over the decades, CRW has continuously invested in infrastructure improvements, water quality protection, and environmental stewardship. Key achievements include:

• Expansion of water treatment and distribution systems to meet growing demand

• Implementation of rigorous water quality monitoring programs

• Protection and preservation of our valuable water source in the Clackamas River Watershed

• Adoption of strategies to ensure long-term water reliability.

As the District looks to the future, it remains focused on resilience, innovation, and community engagement. Planned initiatives include upgrading our Water Treatment Plant, enhancing emergency preparedness, and continuing to invest in ways that prepare us to successfully fulfill our mission for the next 100 years.

To commemorate its centennial, CRW looks forward to sharing information and providing opportunities to learn more about the district’s history while fostering a deeper understanding of the critical role water plays in everyday life.
