Drinking Water Week, May 3-9, 2026

Celebrate the people who bring water to you this Drinking Water Week
May 3–9 is Drinking Water Week, a celebration of everything drinking water does for our community. Water is often called the “invisible utility” because most of the work to bring safe, reliable water to your tap is done behind the scenes. Even most of the infrastructure, like pipes and reservoirs, is hidden underground. This Drinking Water Week, we’re highlighting the staff who do the invisible work that keeps your water flowing.
Along water’s journey from the Clackamas River to your tap, our staff do all different kinds of work to make sure your drinking water is there when you need it. From testing water quality to maintaining water treatment infrastructure, we keep water flowing to 12,000 homes and businesses across our service area.
At the same time, water providers across the region are doing the same work to make sure their customers receive the high-quality, reliable water service we’re proud to provide for the greater Portland metro area. We work in collaboration with our water provider neighbors to share knowledge and resources, plan for the future, and prepare for emergencies. For us, Drinking Water Week is every week. Join us May 3–9 to celebrate our number one natural resource: water
