Where Does My Water come from?

A tranquil river surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees, with some rocks along the water's edge and a cloudy blue sky.

When you turn on the faucet to get a drink of water or wash your hands, it’s just there, right? Well, a lot happens before water reaches your tap to make sure it’s available when you need it. Your drinking water starts  in the Clackamas River, and flows through a series of pipes, treatment, reservoirs, pump stations, and more to reach your home, school, or business.

Along its journey, more than 1,100 staff across the region operate, construct, maintain, and protect your drinking water every single day. From testing water quality to constructing new pipelines, water providers work to make sure that water flows to more than 455,000 homes and businesses across the region.
